How to Add Your Business to Apple Maps with Apple Business Connect

A practical, step-by-step guide to claiming or adding your business on Apple Maps for free, so iPhone customers can find you too.

When you think about "the map where customers find me," you probably think of Google Maps. Fair enough — it's the most used. But a real chunk of your customers carry an iPhone, and when they open Maps, ask Siri "where's the nearest bakery," or search in Spotlight, they don't see Google. They see Apple Maps. If your business isn't there, you simply don't exist for them.

The good news: being on Apple Maps is free, and it's done through a single official tool called Apple Business Connect. You don't need an expensive iPhone, a developer, or technical skills. You need an Apple Account, about half an hour, and some patience for the verification step. In this guide I'll show you exactly what to do, what to fill in so it looks good, and where most owners get stuck.

Why Apple Maps matters, not just Google

Apple Maps isn't "just another map." It's the default map on every iPhone, iPad, Mac, and in CarPlay. When an iPhone customer searches on their phone, through Siri, or in Spotlight, the results come from Apple's data, not Google's.

That has concrete consequences for you:

  • A meaningful share of customers search in an ecosystem where you may not appear at all.
  • Your listing can show up in navigation, in Siri searches, and when someone asks for your business by voice in the car.
  • Your local competitors, in many cases, still haven't claimed their Apple listing — so it's a cheap advantage to grab.

It doesn't replace Google, it complements it. The idea is simple: be found no matter what phone your customer carries.

What Apple Business Connect is

Apple Business Connect is the free platform Apple gives you to control how your business appears on Apple Maps. It replaced the old "Apple Maps Connect" and added far more control.

With it you can:

  • Claim a business that already exists on the map, or add a new one.
  • Set the correct address, hours, phone, website, and business category.
  • Add a logo, a cover photo, and a photo gallery.
  • Put action buttons right on the listing: call, open website, book a table, order.
  • Publish "Showcases" — a kind of announcement or offer that appears on the card (a promotion, a new product, an event).

You sign in with your Apple Account at businessconnect.apple.com. No Apple Account? You create one for free; you don't need any Apple device to do it.

Step by step: how to claim or add your business

The process, in short, looks like this:

  • Go to businessconnect.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account. Accept the business terms.
  • Search for your business by name and address. It often already exists on the map (Apple pulls data from partners), in which case you claim it. If it doesn't show up, choose "add a new location."
  • Fill in the basics: exact name, address, primary category, phone, hours.
  • Go through verification — Apple wants to confirm the location is really yours (more on how below).
  • Once approved, open the listing and complete it with photos, logo, buttons and the rest.

Tip: write the business name exactly as it appears on your sign and documents, not in creative variations. The address must be identical everywhere — on Apple, Google, and your website. Small differences confuse the map and the pin can land in the wrong spot.

What to fill in so the listing brings customers, not just exists

A "ticked-off" listing isn't the same as a listing that convinces. The details make the difference:

  • The right category. Pick the one that best describes what you do; it's what helps Apple show you for the right searches.
  • Real hours, including holidays. Nothing annoys a customer more than showing up to find you closed.
  • Good photos. A clear logo, a representative cover, a few real shots of the space and your products or services. No obvious stock photos.
  • Action buttons. Add the ones that matter to you: "Call," "Book," "Order," "Website."
  • Showcases. Use them for what's new or for an offer — they appear right on the card and signal the business is active.

Think of the listing as a mini presentation page. It's often the first thing an iPhone customer sees about you.

Verification and common mistakes

Verification is where most people get stuck. Apple may ask you to confirm ownership through methods like a call or message to the business number, or business documents. It's not instant — approval can take a few days, so don't panic if it doesn't happen right away.

Common mistakes worth avoiding:

  • Address and name inconsistent with Google and your website (this creates confusion and a wrong pin).
  • The wrong or too-vague category.
  • A listing left empty after verification — no photos, no buttons.
  • Giving up halfway through verification, thinking it "doesn't work."

Also beware of promises: no one can "guarantee you the top spot" on Apple or Google. Anyone who promises that is best avoided. What you can control is a correct, complete, consistent listing — the rest comes from real reputation.

If you'd rather not fight with this alone

You can do all of this yourself — the guide above is enough for a patient person. But if you'd rather deal with customers than forms, at MPO Web Studio we do exactly this part: we claim and set up your business on Apple Maps, align it with Google and your website, so the data is identical everywhere.

We work fully remotely, across the whole country, and we show you what the result will look like beforehand, not after. No hidden costs and no "guaranteed number one" promises — just work done properly.

If you want a hand or just a second opinion, message us on WhatsApp. We'll look together at where you show up now and what's worth tidying up, with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Does adding my business to Apple Maps cost anything?+

No. Apple Business Connect is free. You create an Apple Account (free), claim or add your business, and complete the listing without paying anything to Apple. The only "cost" is your time or, if you prefer, we handle it.

Do I need an iPhone or an Apple device?+

No. You sign in from any computer at businessconnect.apple.com with an Apple Account. You can create the account for free even if you own no Apple product. It's useful to then check how the listing looks on an iPhone, but it's not required.

How long until my business appears on the map?+

Filling in the details takes under an hour. The slow part is verification: Apple confirms the location is yours, and that can take a few days. After approval, later edits to the listing appear much faster.

I'm already on Google Maps. Is it the same thing?+

No. They're two separate systems. A Google listing doesn't automatically appear on Apple Maps and vice versa. Ideally you have both, with the exact same data — name, address, phone, hours — so you're found whatever phone the customer uses.

Can someone guarantee me the top spot on Apple Maps?+

No, and it's a red flag if anyone promises it. Ranking depends on many factors nobody fully controls. What you can concretely do is a correct, complete listing, consistent with the rest of your online presence and backed by real reviews.
