Website for a Restaurant or Café in Zalău, with Takeaway Food Shown the Way It Arrives
Zalău sits at the foot of the Meseș Mountains, and Romanians and Hungarians live here side by side, each with their own holidays and their own tables. Cluj is close enough to be the yardstick for a special evening, and many people in Zalău choose a place only after seeing its plates on screen. Some orders also leave as takeaway, for home or for a family's holiday table.
For anyone ordering from home, the first encounter with your kitchen is a photo, and the second is the lid of the box. For restaurants, bistros and cafés in Zalău, MPO Web Studio makes websites where the two match: takeaway dishes appear in the box they leave in, not just on the plate, and orders and bookings reach you directly. The mockup is free and carries your venue's name.

Some years, Zalău has two Easters
Easter doesn't always fall on the same day for everyone in Zalău: in some years, Reformed and Catholic families celebrate it a week or even several weeks before the Orthodox. For a restaurant, that means two peaks instead of one. First come the orders for the Easter table of Hungarian families, with boiled ham, eggs and braided kalács, then, after a pause, those of Orthodox families, with drob, roast lamb and cozonac. Each wave asks the same questions: what can be ordered, until which day and when it's collected. In years when the dates coincide, everything is squeezed into one busy week. A venue that announces its menu for each holiday in good time, with its own deadline, no longer answers the same questions twice, and families don't find out too late that the order list has closed.
The dinner some would drive to Cluj for
Cluj isn't far, so for a birthday or a dinner meant to impress, many people in Zalău wonder whether the drive is worth it. The competition for a good restaurant in Zalău isn't just the place on the next street, but also the hour-plus drive. Someone weighing the trip wants to see, before deciding, why they wouldn't need it: the plates you send out on an ordinary evening, the room, which wines you have, what dinner for two costs. If they find all that at your place, they stay in town and keep both the evening and the fuel. If they find nothing, they assume Zalău has nothing to offer them and leave, even if your kitchen would have been worth a try.
The box in the photo is the one that reaches the customer
For someone ordering takeaway, the beautiful plate on the website is only half the truth: what they get is a box. That's why the free mockup shows the dishes you sell most twice: once as you serve them at the table, once as they leave for takeaway, lid lifted, in the box you normally use. Under the second photo we write what it doesn't show: whether the sauce comes separately, whether the side dish has its own compartment and how much the takeaway portion weighs compared with the one served in the dining room. Someone ordering for the family table thus knows, before paying, what they'll find when they open the bag. You take the photos in the kitchen, on an ordinary working day, and we crop them and put them in order on the structure from /demo/horeca. When a dish leaves the menu, its photo goes with it, so the site never promises what you no longer cook. If the mockup looks right to you, the price starts at 290€: within a few days the site is online, with a single round of revisions included and a 7-day guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Where we don't have a photo of a dish yet, what appears instead?+
Just the dish name, the weight, the price and a short description, neatly laid out, and for dishes that go out as takeaway, the weight of the boxed portion too. We don't put in any borrowed image to fill the gap. As you send us photos, we add them, and after launch you can upload them yourself, starting with the dishes most often ordered as takeaway.
In years with two Easters, can we keep two holiday menus on the site, each with its own date?+
Yes. Each has its own section, with the dishes, the price per tray or per portion, the last day orders are taken and the pickup window. You make it visible a few weeks before its holiday and hide it after the last pickup, yourself, from the admin page. In years when Easter falls on the same day, a single list remains. Whoever orders sees only what applies to their date and no longer calls to ask.
How often do we need to take new photos?+
Not by the calendar, but by the plate. A new photo is needed when you change the side dish, the portion or the box, or when a seasonal dish appears. Dishes that have looked the same for years keep their photo. To keep on top of it, check the photos every time you rework the menu. It takes as long as a coffee break, not a photo shoot.
Food in a takeaway box doesn't look as good as on a plate. Won't that photo hurt our takeaway sales?+
No, because people see it anyway, just only at home, when they lift the lid. If they see it on the site first, they know what to expect and have no reason to be disappointed. The plate stays the first image, for those who come to the dining room; the box sits right next to it, with no garnish added for the photo. And if your takeaway portion is as generous as the one on the plate, that very photo becomes your argument against the places that only show the plate.
