Website for Your Gym or Fitness Studio in Piatra Neamț

In December, Piatra Neamț fills up. People working in Italy or Spain come home, students return from Iași, young people who moved to Cluj or Bucharest are back. Houses are full, meals run long, and between carols and visits a promise is often made out loud: “next year I'm joining a gym”. Often it's the one who stays at home who makes it, nudged by a family member who came from far away.

Once Epiphany and the feast of St John that follows it have passed, the city empties again. Those who left pack their bags, and those who stay look for a rhythm to carry them through the rest of winter. That's exactly when they open your page, with the decision still fresh. At MPO Web Studio we build websites for gyms and studios with these people, and this moment, in mind.

The promise is made at the Christmas table, the search starts once the relatives leave

At the holiday table, someone back from Italy talks about their gym over there, and someone else at the table promises, out loud, to start too. The promise hangs in the air as long as the house is full. In Piatra, though, the holidays last until after Epiphany and St John's Day, so the decision waits another week. Only when the relatives leave and the city gets back to its routine, on some evening in January, does the person search on their phone. They don't search for long, and they don't look for what you'd expect: they can see machines anywhere. They want a date. When you reopen after the holidays, when a group for people starting now begins, whether they can come this very week. If your page gives them a day and a time, the promise made at the table becomes a booking. If it only says “see you in the new year”, it's put off until next Christmas.

After the holidays, the morning class becomes the only fixed appointment

In a city where many families have someone far away, the months after the holidays are the quietest of the year. For someone left alone in the flat after the children have packed their bags again, a ten o'clock class on Tuesdays and Thursdays is the only appointment of the week that doesn't depend on anyone else. That's why they read your page differently from a young person. They aren't looking for machines or intensity; they're looking for steadiness: whether the morning class still runs in February, not just while the January wave lasts, whether the same instructor leads it every time, whether they'll hear in advance when the class moves or is cancelled. A class that appears on the timetable only while sign-ups last disappoints them once, and they don't come back. One that's scheduled through to March, with the instructor's name next to it, gives them a reason to leave the house.

Online in December, ready for January

A website that goes live in the first week of January arrives too late for the wave that follows those holidays. Google needs some time to discover a new page and start showing it, and in December your gym runs on its holiday schedule, with no time for meetings. That's why we start early and ask little of you: you send us your memberships, timetable and a few photos, and we put together the mockup of your gym, with your name and your classes, not a template; what a gym built by us looks like, you can see at /demo/fitness anyway. Inside it we also prepare a start-of-year page for first-timers. One round of revisions is included in the price, the site is handed over within days, pricing starts from €290, and the 7 days of warranty begin on the day it goes live. You switch on the beginners' page yourself, on the evening after St John's Day; if the site has been live since December, Google has already had a few weeks to discover it.

Frequently asked questions

In December many people want to give a membership as a gift to their parents or partner. Can I sell vouchers from the website?+

Yes. The simplest option is a voucher page: the buyer picks the membership, writes the recipient's name and sends you the request; you confirm and hand over the voucher however you like, printed at reception or as an image on the phone. If you also want online payment, we add it. It matters most for those who leave again before your gym reopens after the holidays.

In January the morning classes fill up with beginners, and the ladies who have been coming for years feel pushed aside. How do I split people up without upsetting anyone?+

With a January group, listed separately on the timetable. Beginners from the post-holiday wave get their own class, with a start date and a name that says clearly who it's for — “start-of-year group”, for example — while the morning class stays with the people who keep it going all year. We also write on the page when the two come together: after a few weeks, those who have stuck with it move to the regular class, at its pace. Long-standing members keep their place, and newcomers don't step on day one into a pace that isn't theirs yet.

Lots of people come in January, and by March a good share have vanished. Can the website help me keep them?+

It can, if you give people a finish line. Someone who started because of a New Year's promise gives up less easily on something with an announced end than on a membership with no end in sight. On the site we put a “six-week challenge” that starts after St John's Day and ends in the second half of February: how many workouts a week, what happens on the last day, how you know you've completed it. By the time they reach the end, people already have the habit, and the question is no longer whether they'll quit, but which membership they'll take from now on. The rest is down to the gym and the trainers.

January newcomers don't know whether to pick the machines, Pilates or CrossFit. Can I put something on the website to guide them?+

Yes: a short guide of three or four questions. What they want to achieve, how often they can come, whether they've done sport before and whether they have any back or knee trouble. At the end we show one or two suitable classes, with their times, and the button for a trial session. They no longer hover between ten options, and you get a beginner already on the right track.
