Why Your Website Isn't Bringing In Clients (and What You Can Fix)
Six concrete reasons your website sits idle — invisible on Google, slow, no clear call to action, no proof, stock photos, no local signals — and the exact fix for each one.
A website usually fails to bring in clients for six reasons: it doesn't show up on Google when someone searches for your service, it loads slowly on phones, it doesn't tell visitors clearly what to do, it offers no proof that you're trustworthy, it looks generic because of stock photos, and it never says which city you work in. All six can be diagnosed in ten minutes, and all six can be fixed — most within days, not months.
You know the scene: you paid for a website two or three years ago, shared it on Facebook, put the link on your business cards... and since then, silence. The phone only rings from referrals, while the site sits there like a shop window on a street nobody walks down. You're not alone: most small-business websites we audit look exactly like this.
We're the MPO Web Studio team from the Cluj / Cluj-Napoca area, and we work 100% remotely with businesses all over Romania. Below is the diagnostic checklist we use ourselves, with the concrete fix for each point.
1. You're invisible on Google
The test takes one minute: open an incognito window and search for your service plus your city — "plumber Oradea", "dental clinic Brașov". If your site shows up neither in the results nor on the map, you practically don't exist for new clients.
The usual causes: the site is a single page with three sentences, your services have no pages of their own, and your Google Business Profile is empty or doesn't exist at all.
The fix: one page for each important service, texts written for people (not keyword lists), plus a Google profile completed with categories, photos and opening hours. An honest warning: nobody serious can promise you "number 1 on Google". But the distance between "invisible" and "visible" can be covered in weeks, not years.
2. Your site loads too slowly on phones
Run the test on mobile data, not on the office Wi-Fi: how long do you wait before anything appears on screen? The client searching "urgently" doesn't wait — they hit back and call the next name on the list.
The causes: photos uploaded straight from the phone at huge sizes, bargain-bin hosting, themes stuffed with dozens of features you never use.
The fix: compress the images, cut the dead plugins, move to decent hosting. It's the cheapest fix on the list, with an immediate effect.
3. Visitors don't understand what you want from them
Open your homepage and ask yourself: where do I click to become a client? If the answer is "you scroll, you search, you guess", you've found the leak. "Welcome to our website" is not a call to action — it's a polite way of losing people.
The fix: one main button, visible without scrolling, with a concrete action: "Get a quote", "Book now", "Call now". On mobile, the phone number must be callable in one tap. One page = one main action, not five.
4. You offer no proof that you're trustworthy
A new client doesn't know you. If the site has no reviews, no photos of real work, no client names, not even a photo of the team, their quote request goes to the competitor who has them.
The fix: bring your Google reviews right into the site, add before/after photos from real projects, and write your true numbers: how many years you've been working, how many jobs you've completed. Don't invent anything — fake proof can be smelled from a kilometre away and costs you more than having none.
5. Stock photos make you look like a ghost company
Everyone instantly recognizes the smiling lady with the headset and the handshake in a glass-walled office. The client's brain draws a single conclusion: "they have nothing real to show".
The fix: one hour with a phone in hand. The team, the workshop, the service van, last week's job. An imperfect real photo convinces more than a perfect purchased one.
6. Google doesn't know which city you work in
If your city doesn't appear in the page titles, in the texts and in the site footer, you'll struggle to show up in local searches — exactly where ready-to-buy clients are looking.
The fix: the name of your town in titles and texts, a contact page with address and map, the same contact details everywhere on the internet (site, Google profile, Facebook). These are the basics of local SEO and require no advertising budget.
What the repair costs — or a properly built site
Sometimes the repair is simple. Sometimes the site is five years old, on a theme its author abandoned, and it's cheaper to build clean from scratch than to keep patching. So you know the range you're playing in:
| Website type | Price |
|---|---|
| Landing page | 290–490 € |
| Business website | 490–890 € |
| Online store | from 690 € |
| Maintenance | from 29 €/month |
| AEO/GEO optimization | from 290 € |
The rule we work by: anything standing between a visitor and one more phone call has to go.
Check your own site, then write to us
Take the six points above and tick them honestly, with your own site open on your phone. If you ticked two or more, your website isn't a shop window — it's a cost.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether the problem is my website or the market?+
Search Google for your service exactly the way a client would. If competitors are getting calls and you aren't, and your site fails the tests in this article, the problem is the site. The market can be tested with a Google profile and a few days of ads; the site can be tested with the checklist above in ten minutes.
How long until I see results after the fixes?+
Speed, action buttons and real photos have an immediate effect on the visitors you already get. Google visibility grows gradually — usually over weeks or a few months, not days. That's why you fix conversion first, then work on traffic.
Is it worth repairing my old site, or should I build a new one?+
If the site runs on a current platform and the problems are content and speed, repair it. If it's many years old, on an abandoned theme, and can't be edited without a programmer, a new business website (490–890 €) is often cheaper than endless patching.
My site shows up on Google, but nobody calls. Why?+
Visibility brings visitors, not clients. If people arrive and leave, check points 2 to 5: speed, the action button, the proof and the photos. That's where the client is usually lost — not in the search results.
Can I fix these problems myself, or do I need an agency?+
Real photos, the Google profile and reviews you can do yourself, for free. Speed, page structure and texts that sell usually require experience — that's where an agency comes in. Ask us for a free demo website on WhatsApp and see the difference before you decide.
