How to Cover More Towns on Google Maps Without Opening Offices Everywhere

An honest guide for construction and HVAC firms working across a whole county: real local visibility without fake locations.

You work across the entire county. You install boilers in one town, do waterproofing in another, run plumbing in a third. But on Google Maps you only show up where your office is — everywhere else, nobody finds you. The temptation is to open "branch offices" everywhere, or list fake addresses to grab more pins on the map.

Don't. Google verifies addresses by mail and by signals, and profiles with fake locations get suspended — often even the real one you built over years. The good news: there's a correct way to cover more towns, designed exactly for firms that travel to the customer. In this article I explain it step by step — what works and what doesn't.

The difference between a storefront and a service-area business

Google has two profile types, and this is where most construction and HVAC firms trip up.

  • Storefront: a shop or office where customers come to you. The address shows publicly on the map.
  • Service Area Business (SAB): a business that goes to the customer — plumbers, builders, HVAC, cleaning. Here the address can be hidden, and instead of one fixed pin you define the areas you serve.

If you travel to the customer, you're an SAB, not a storefront. You set this in your Google Business Profile: hide the address and add your service areas (you can add several towns and villages, within a reasonable radius). A single, real profile can correctly list every place you work — with no extra offices.

Why fake locations cost more than they bring in

Registering an address in each town — at a friend's place, a relative's, a space you rent only on paper — looks like a shortcut. In reality it's the fastest way to lose everything.

Google detects unused addresses: no real activity, no reviews from customers in that area, no business signals. When it catches one, it suspends the profile. And suspensions come in bundles — your main, legitimate profile tied to the same business can go down too.

On top of that, a customer searching for a plumber who lands on an address that doesn't physically exist loses trust instantly. You gain a fake pin and lose your reputation. One correct profile, with well-set service areas, is more stable and more profitable long term.

How to earn town-by-town visibility without lying

The SAB profile is the foundation, but on its own it won't lift you in every town. Google decides local ranking mainly by relevance, distance and prominence. You can influence those honestly:

  • Reviews from different towns. When you finish a job in a given town, ask that customer to leave a review and naturally mention the location. These signals tell Google where you actually work.
  • Dedicated pages on your site. One real page per important town: "Heating installation in [town]", with jobs done there, your own photos, local detail. Don't copy the same page ten times — write distinct content.
  • Field photos with captions that include the town.
  • Complete categories and services in your profile.

That's how you show up in local searches for towns where you have no office but genuinely work.

Town pages: where most firms get it wrong

The most powerful tool for county-wide coverage is your website, not the map. A well-made town page can rank you where your Google profile can't reach on its own.

The classic mistake: the firm builds one "template" page, swaps only the town name, and clones it. Google recognizes duplicate content and ignores it — sometimes penalizes it. A good page has real substance:

  • Concrete jobs done in that town, with your own photos.
  • Specific detail: neighborhoods, building types, local challenges (old houses downtown, apartment blocks, new developments).
  • A clear contact form or button.

If you haven't worked in a town yet, don't fake it. Start with the towns where you have a portfolio and expand as you gather real jobs. Authenticity is exactly the edge that sets you apart.

How we help, in short

At MPO Web Studio we build exactly this kind of site for construction and HVAC firms: a structure with town pages, optimization for local searches, and clean integration with your Google Business Profile. We work remotely, nationwide, so where you're based doesn't matter.

What sets us apart, concretely:

  • We build you a free, pre-made demo before you pay anything — you see with your own eyes what your site would look like, not just promises.
  • Transparent pricing, no hidden costs.
  • We don't promise "guaranteed #1 on Google". Anyone who promises that is lying to you — nobody controls the algorithm.

If you want to cover more towns in your county the right way, message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly what's realistic for your firm.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add several towns to a single Google profile?+

Yes. If you travel to the customer, set the profile as a Service Area Business and add your service areas — several towns and villages, within a reasonable radius. It's allowed and correct, as long as you genuinely work there.

Would fake addresses really get my profile suspended?+

Yes, it's one of the most common reasons for suspension. Google verifies addresses and the lack of real activity. Worse, a suspension can also hit your main, legitimate profile tied to the same business.

How many towns can I realistically serve from one location?+

It depends on how far you can actually travel. Set a radius your team truly covers. Don't add towns 200 km away that you never reach — Google and customers notice, and your relevance drops.

Do I need a website, or is the Google profile enough?+

The profile is essential, but for multi-town coverage a site with dedicated pages makes the difference. That's where you appear in searches for towns where you have no office but genuinely work.

How long until I show up in new towns?+

It's not instant, and nobody serious gives you an exact date. Once you set the profile up correctly, gather reviews from those areas and publish real pages, visibility grows gradually — over weeks and months, not overnight.
