SEO for photographers, videographers and event planners
A couple searching for a wedding photographer in Cluj, or a wedding videographer with prices, opens a few sites, looks at the portfolio, checks the price and messages a handful. If you aren't in that first list, it no longer matters how good your photos are.
SEO for photographers, videographers and event planners means a separate page for each type of event, galleries Google can read, a correct Google Business Profile for the area you work in, and content published in the off-season, not in July when your calendar is already full.
"Wedding photographer" plus city and price: where couples look
Searches usually combine the city and the event type, and many add the price: "fotograf nuntă Cluj" (wedding photographer Cluj), "fotograf nuntă preț" (wedding photographer price), "fotograf botez Cluj" (christening photographer), "videograf nuntă Cluj", "formație nuntă preț" (wedding band price), "organizare nuntă 2026" (wedding planning 2026). Companies search for "organizare evenimente corporate" (corporate event planning). The word for price comes up often in these suggestions.
Google answers in three places. The map of Google Business Profiles, ranked by relevance, distance and prominence. The regular results, where the page that matches "christening" or "wedding" plus the city exactly has the best chance. And Google Images, which matters a lot for photographers: file names, alt text and the text around a gallery all count there.
A single "Services" page mixing weddings, christenings and corporate events matches none of these searches well. One page per event type, with packages and a price range, stands a much better chance at each of them.
One page per event type and galleries Google can read
- Foundation: an audit and fixes on your site, with a focus on images: size, format, loading speed, file names and descriptive alt text. We plan the structure: one page per event type (wedding, christening, civil ceremony, photo sessions, corporate), with packages and a price range, and per-event galleries with text: the venue, how the day went, what you delivered. We agree in the offer how many pages and galleries we write in the Foundation. If you have no studio where you receive clients, your Google Business Profile is set up without a public address, listing the areas where you shoot, up to 20.
- Local: a profile kept alive with new photos after every published event and posts about dates still free this season.
- Growth: pages about real venues you have worked at (restaurants and halls in and around your city) or guides for couples, plus old galleries with no text filled in one by one.
Organisers of public, dated events (concerts, fairs, festivals) also get Event structured data, which can make the event eligible for Google's event listings. Private weddings are not marked up that way.
Image rights, unlicensed music, Event markup misused
- Image rights: photos of couples and guests are published only with their consent (Romanian Civil Code, art. 73, and the GDPR). The simplest route is a portfolio clause in your contract. For christenings, the parents give consent.
- Music in showreels must be licensed. A track used without rights is a copyright problem, on your site and on any video platform.
- Borrowed images: no photos taken from other photographers and passed off as your work. That is copyright infringement and misleading advertising (Law 363/2007).
- "The best photographer in Cluj": a claim you can't prove is misleading advertising (Law 158/2008). Google doesn't need it to show you either.
- Event markup on packages or permanent offers breaks Google's structured data rules and can cost you rich results. We use it only for real public events with a date.
- Asking for the review too early, or only from delighted couples. Couples write better reviews once they have the photos, not on the wedding night. We ask at gallery delivery, every couple, with no discount in return.
Wedding season is won in the off-season
Technical fixes, image optimisation and a corrected Google profile come first, within 2–4 weeks.
The season changes everything. Weddings cluster in the warm months and are booked well in advance, so couples look for a photographer many months before the date. New galleries, venue pages and review requests are done in the off-season, in autumn and winter. If you start in June, today's work mostly pays off next season.
Reviews follow the rhythm of your events: many in summer, few in winter, so your profile grows in waves. That is normal. In the monthly report you compare views, calls and visits from Google season to season, not month to month.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to put prices on my website?
- Many searches in this field include the word for price. You don't need a fixed list: a range per package and what each includes (hours of coverage, approximate number of photos, album, short film) is enough for the page to answer the search and filter out unsuitable enquiries.
- I don't have a studio. Can I have a Google Business Profile?
- Yes. Google calls it a service-area business: no public address, and you pick the areas you work in, up to 20. What you can't do is show a studio address where you don't receive clients. Google requires a displayed address to be a place where you actually serve customers.
- Can I use photos from my clients' weddings in my portfolio?
- Only with their consent, ideally through a portfolio clause in your contract, and for christenings with the parents' consent. If a couple doesn't want to appear, you can show details, decor or the venue. A gallery without faces but with good text about the place and the event is still useful for search.
- I shoot weddings in other cities too. Can I show up for "fotograf nuntă Sibiu" (wedding photographer Sibiu) without living there?
- On the map, hardly: distance to the searcher matters, and an invented address there breaks Google's rules. In the regular results, yes, with a real page for that city built from weddings you actually shot there: the venues, the galleries, what was different. Not ten identical pages with a different city in the title; Google treats those as doorway pages.
